Name of artist: Andre Nguyen
Date of artist's life: NA, started photography in 1998
1. Personal Background
Andre began his love of photography in 1998, use single use disposable cameras, he wasn't able to get his first camera until his start of college in 2003. His friends and family describe his camera as an "extension of his body", and he really connects with that. His love started when he was young, he found an old shoe box of photographs of his family and this inspired him to take photos of his own. He feels that his camera is a time machine. It is his was of freezing time and seeing the beauty of the world standing still.
2. Style
Andre does wedding and lifestyle photography. His work has a very light and airy feel to me, almost that imitates summer and being young, free and happy. It contains, bright colors, edits that include high saturation, rainbow reflections and lots of flowers. These aspects of his work give his photographs an almost kid like vibe, but in a very professional way. His images are something I inspire to be able to convey in my own images.
3. Philosophy
As I stated above, the artists work portrays a very light and airy feel to me. His work is very bright, with lots of fun aspects like bubbles and bright colors. All of the people he photographs are smiling, which makes the viewer feel a sense of their happiness as well. I believe he is trying to convey young love, freedom and happiness. The elements he includes in his work are something of which I wish to achieve in my photographs as well.
4.Influences
As I have stated above, this artists work conveys a lot of things that I would like to be able to include in my photographs. I enjoy, the bubbles, flowers, glitter, bright colors and huge smiles that he includes in his photographs. His work reminds me about a summer movie about a teen romance, and that is something that I would love to be able to show in my photographs as well. Along with that, I love the happy vibe that his photographs give off, which is something I would love to include in my images along with the others I mentioned.

In these images, I feel that the lighting is very similar, but in the original photograph there is many more lights that have the bokeh look. The poses are slightly different. The light is slightly warmer in the photo on the left. The season that these were taken in may have an affect on how the images differ, the original photograph was taken in august, rather than on a rainy November day as mine was. Overall, I believe that there are many aspects of the photographs that I could improve, but some of the issues, such as the season and weather, were out of my control.

Running through the streets of Chicago.
Take nothing for granted.
I begged you to want me but you didn't want to.

To me, these images tell a story of a love and a breakup. The photos to me look kind of like a sequence, the love is the second picture, then the breakup is the third and she becomes independent in the first. In order to create the images to try to match them to the original, I tried to find a place that will have the same lighting, and I attempted to crop the images in the same way as the photographer did. I tried to the best of my ability with the weather during the day, to get the best lighting possible by sitting by windows and being outside. As I stated above, if I were to redo these photographs I would need to take into account what the weather for the day is and make sure that I do my photographs with weather that matches the original. I had a lot of fun recreating the images but I would really like to try to improve them.
