Brick.
This building is a church downtown ann arbor. I really liked this building because of the brick details, and how many small pieces went into the design on the wall (right) to make one large composition. When taking these photos, I tried my best to center the image but it didn't work out quite how I wanted. I also have some photographs where I tried to include the small pieces of the structure, more zoomed in, but I ended up liking the zoomed out photos more.
Little ray of sunshine.
This is an old business building downtown, I don't think that anyone occupies it anymore. I liked this building because of the yellow and the columns. I really liked the yellow paint, I thought it added a little bit of happiness to an old broken down building. The columns gave it a more elegant look even though the paint was chipped and the building wasn't in the best shape. Just because the building is a little bit run down, it still conveys a sense of happiness to me.
Gnome home.
My parents and I were on the way to a dance rehearsal, and we actually got lost. We were driving and I saw this old building. It used to be a business building, it is now for sale and I thought it had the coolest design elements. It has round parts to it but also some sharp edge elements such as the chimney. As I stated in the title, it reminds me a lot of a gnome house or fairy house.
My doors are open.
This is another church downtown, near Kerrytown. As I have stated in class, I really love doors. I'm not really sure why, but doors have always interested me and I loved the one on this church. I loved the windows, and the stone details on the wall. Just as the other church, I took some detail pictures, but I really liked the photos that included all the details.
Growing up.
This is Burns Park Elementary. I was with my dad when I took these pictures, and he was telling me about how it used to be the old tappan middle school. And that it is now the only elementary school in A2 with a pool! As for the design elements, just as the churches, I loved the small stone details and the historic looking elements of it. When I was little, I went to a day camp in the summer and we used to play in Burns Park, so it makes me really happy and nostalgic.
